We are pleased to announce the addition of Michael Toedtli to our Apps & Services Team. Mike will be responsible for driving business relationships to make Skytelligence an industry standard framework for connecting apps & services to various algorithms and data sources. We sat down with Mike for our first installment of Fast Five to learn more about what motivates him, why he's in the aviation industry, and to learn a fun fact!

What is the best career advice you have been given?

Do something that you enjoy – wake up on Monday morning feeling energized and excited that the week-end is finally over!

What led you to the aviation industry?

I’ve always been a bit of a “avgeek” – covertly watching lots of crosswind landings on YouTube. It’s also an industry that is intrinsically international - enabling people to explore our beautiful planet and, of course, to stay connected while doing it!

Can you name a person who has had a tremendous impact on you as a leader? Maybe some one who has been a mentor to you? Why and how did this person impact your life?

Winston Churchill – stick to your values, be audacious in your ambition and always have a sense of humour.

What motivates you or inspires you to work hard?

Enjoying what you do and knowing that you are doing something your grandchildren will be proud of.

What’s a fun fact about you most people don’t know?

I’m pretty sure I hold the world record number of jumps on the “Jump Jumper,” having challenged my neighbourhood to a “jump off” jumping 10,565 times over four hours – note: record established in 1989.

“We are extremely happy to have Mike join the team," said Blane Rockafellow, VP Product Development. "Mike brings a background in strategic partnerships in aviation apps & services that will be invaluable as he leads SmartSky’s Skytelligence team in the creation and development of partnerships.”
